January Prayer Letter

Dear Friend,

May the wonderful King of mercy cause your heart to rest in Him today and throughout this entire year!

"I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name" (John 16:23) What an amazing promise. It was Jesus Who said these words. I'm pretty confident He knew what He was talking about when He said them. Let's—together—trust Him and and His Words today.

Praise Item:

• Early last month we sent out an email that, in part, mentioned a possible teaching trip to Ukraine. Someone repsonded and offered $2000 in matching funds to help us raise money for the trip. That goal has now been met and the trip is scheduled. Additionally, we have also been given nearly enough money for another teaching trip, this one to Finland, Sweden and Estonia. I have been asked specifically by the trip organizer, Arlen Salte, to speak on unity. Those who know me well know that's my real passion, so this trip is very exciting for me. Praise the Lord for open doors!

Prayer Items:

• I have been asked to consider co-writing a book. The focus of the book is to look at the "worship wars" from a very different perspective. It's a bit too much to go into in detail here, but suffice it to say that the idea intrigues me. The book is already started and the other writer has a very different writing style than mine. Please pray that God gives clear direction about whether I should be involved in this project, and, if so, what that involvement should look like.

• As mentioned last time, scheduling for 2009 has been tremendous. Except for one weekend in January, our schedule is as full as we would like until the beginning of June. Typically, many churches begin looking at the second half of the year at the beginning of the new year. So we're gearing up for making lots of contacts in the next coupe of weeks. Pray that the Lord opens the doors that He wants opened for us.

• I'm still working diligently on the new book about worshiping God in the tough times. I'm very excited about the progress that has been made so far, and am beginning to get a picture of what the final book will look like. I'm not talking about the cover, but how everything fits together and what else I need to add to make it complete. Please keep praying for wisdom and creativity as I continue working on this very important project.

• I'm also working on a complete reworking of our ministry website. Please pray for me as I work to complete this project.

• And, as always, please continue to pray for Phil Mahder, our tech consultant. Phil faithfully serves the Church in the area of technology issues for worship (sound, video, etc.). His impact on churches across the nation has been amazing. Would you continue to stand with us as we ask God to give wisdom and insight to Phil in order to accomplish the Lord's plans and purposes? Thanks!

Of course, we also want to thank you for praying for us. We are very aware that without your prayers—and the prayers of others like you—we would be far less effective. Because of that, we say, "Thanks so much for praying!"
